How environmentally friendly are the Trust's homes?
'Johnnie' Johnson Housing is strongly committed to minimising the impact on the environment from our activities as a landlord and provider of new homes. All our homes are built in line with the building regulation insulation standards. However, to reduce energy costs and improve comfort levels of our tenants we have invested in extra insulation in many of our older properties.
All our latest developments are designed to achieve ECO Homesure accreditation. This is a Government supported scheme, which ensures that new homes are created to have a lower long-term impact on the environment. They are tested to make sure that they:
- don't have a harmful impact on the local ecology
- are built with environmentally friendly materials
- have energy and water saving features
- give the occupiers easy access to public transport
