Celebrating the birth of a new scheme!!
28 July 2011New residents Sarah Webb and Matt Turnock along with their two week old son Joseph helped JJHT to celebrate the official opening of new scheme Leighton House in New Mills. Sarah and Matt moved into their brand new apartment over a week ago after baby Joseph’s slightly early arrival!
In 2007 “Johnnie” Johnson Housing Trust (JJHT) worked closely with High Peak Borough Council to find infill sites that were suitable for development to provide new affordable homes. Grant funding was allocated by the Homes and Communities Agency in order to assist delivery of these much needed homes. 16 new homes were recently completed in the area, all achieving Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and incorporating sustainable features including solar thermal roof panels, sun pipes, heat recovery systems and grey rainwater recycling and boilers with gas savers.
The new family were welcomed to their new home by JJHT’s Chair of the Board, Kath Lavery and High Peak Borough Councilors’, Caitlin Bisknell and Anthony McKeown.
Sarah Webb said, “I think our apartment is one of the nicest I have seen! We love living here and it has only been a week!” Matt added, “We like having JJHT as our landlord, it feels like we are part of a little community and it feels nice to know if we have any problems then we can all talk to each other”.
The new scheme comprises of apartments, houses and bungalows available for rent and x4 shared ownership apartments.
