This year is a very special year for “Johnnie” Johnson Housing as the Trust celebrates its 40th birthday!

To commemorate four decades of being a successful and well respected housing association, this special birthday will be celebrated in style with a series of planned parties, fundraising and social events throughout the Summer. All proceeds raised at the events will go towards the Trust’s two chosen charities; Homeless International and SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association).

Tenants at Spey House retirement scheme in Reddish last week celebrated the birthday by dressing up in 1940's themed outfits ranging from Land Army girls to a wounded soldier from the battlefield!  Everyone certainly looked the part!

43 tenants took part and an entertainer added to the cheerful mood with the party carrying on in full swing until 1.30 a.m. the following morning.

Scheme manager Karen Daly said,

“Residents really enjoyed themselves and it was wonderful, everyone dressed up and joined in!  Unlike during the war years, food and drink wasn’t rationed and everyone tucked into a hearty beef stew and ‘Dam buster’ dumplings!”
