Johnnie” Johnson Housing Trust celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.  In commemorating 4 decades of being a successful and well respected housing association JJHT are giving something back to the wider community.  The Trust is dedicating a summer of fund raising for its 2 chosen charities Homeless International and SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association).  Alongside sponsoring a tenant to take part in Home Less Internationals Trek India, employees from across the Trust are taking part in a very special anniversary cycle ride in the North East of England.

The 40 mile cycle ride is to be held on 18 June, starting at 10.30am from Warkworth cricket club the route will follow part of the National Cycle Route No.1 from Warkworth Castle to Belford and is anticipated to finish around 15.30pm.  Employees from across the Trust have all been eager to participate and will be joined by staff from company’s such as Dickinson Dees, Tripleshield, RT Heating,  HMH and members of the Northumberland Police Force. Cyclists will be cheered on by JJHT General Let Residents from Seahouses all the way down to Belford.

The ride is registered as a National Bike Week event and is closed to the general public.  Cyclists will certainly be testing their skills as many different terrains will be encountered across the 40 miles and off road routes have been mapped for those that are more adventurous!

JJHT Chief Executive Jim Lunney, who is also taking part in the cycle ride, said “We have had tremendous support from both our own staff and colleagues in other organisations.  I believe the cycle ride will be one of the highlights of our fund raising events this year”.
