Residents of All Saints Meadows Mr and Mrs Thomas were delighted when local Rotherham Councillors Jacquie Falvey and Jane Havenhand stopped by for a cup of tea and a tour of the newly built general let scheme in Dinnington. Councillor Jacquie Falvey commented: “It was great to be invited along to see the lovely scheme! Councillor Havenhand and I are very impressed with how happy Mr and Mrs Thomas are and how well they have settled into their new home”.
“Johnnie” Johnson Housing Trust has provided 6 x two bedroom apartments for rent to the over 55’s at All Saints Meadows, Laughton Common nr. Dinnington. The land was earmarked for affordable housing when the original developer
With support from Rotherham MBC “Johnnie” Johnson Housing Trust obtained grant funding from The Housing Corporation in order to build the homes which were handed over in December 2008. The scheme delivers high levels of energy efficiency which helps to reduce resident’s fuel bills. The Building Research Establishment acknowledged the development’s environmental sustainability with the award of a “Very Good” EcoHomes rating. A Secure by Design certificate was awarded by the Local Constabulary in recognition of measures taken to design out crime. J&S Seddon received the Considerate Constructors scheme award to reflect their professional site organisation and conduct.
The particular needs of individual tenants were addressed from the outset. As a consequence all ground floor apartments were fitted with level access showers in order to assist people with physical disability. These new homes at All Saints Meadows embrace the “Johnnie” Johnson Housing Trust’s mission to make a positive difference to people’s lives; a rare opportunity to provide affordable rural homes to a mature customer base was certainly seized.
