breast cancer awareness day

Let’s drink to Julie the Pink!

“Johnnie” Johnson Housing worker, Julie Smalley, was tickled pink to receive first prize as best dressed member of staff on Breast Cancer Awareness Day!

Finance worker Julie, pictured receiving a prize from Chief Executive Jim Lunney, took part in a competition where workers were encouraged to dress up in pink. Julie’s striking outfit was a clear winner, from her pink wig, right down to her bright legwarmers!

The Housing Trust, a not for profit organisation based in Poynton, organised other fundraising events on the day including a pink cake sale, a staff quiz and a raffle with prizes ranging from pink lemonade and prawn cocktail crisps to bubble bath and marshmallows.

Julie said,

“It took me ages to dress up and I can’t breathe properly because the 3 tutus I am wearing are child sized! My rotten colleagues challenged me to walk to the local bank dressed like this. It was certainly eventful as I turned a few heads and received a few beeps from motorists passing by!”

Overall, the Trust raised over £280 which was donated towards the breast cancer National Wear it Pink Campaign.
