A "Genie" Johnson Panto Treat

12 January 2010

A “Genie” Johnson Panto treat for the children of Cheetham Hill!

Oh yes they did! As a thank you for all their hard work and dedication for local residents in Cheetham Hill, “Johnnie” Johnson Housing Trust (JJHT) recently took a group of local children better known as the ‘Cheetham Green Team’ to the Palace Theatre to see Aladdin.

Earlier in 2009 The ‘Cheetham Green Team’, as named by the children themselves, took part in a gardening event co-ordinated by JJHT in Partnership with Arawalk Walton and Northwards Housing in order to bring a happy community atmosphere to the area.  20 young people and their parents created 30 beautiful potted plants which were then given to local elderly residents.  The group also participated in a bulb planting project in November.

Tenant, Maggie Stone had a wonderful time at the Pantomime with her daughter and two grandchildren. Maggie said,

‘it was so kind of JJHT to do something for the tenants as other landlords don’t always put on events. Aladdin was Brilliant and all the children are all still talking about it! Thanks to everyone who made it possible!’

Due to the success of various projects in 2009, the Cheetham Green Team will continue to help JJHT with local community events throughout 2010!
