BBC film at Radford House!

12 March 2010

BBC film Wii challange!

The BBC in conjunction with Age Concern Stockport filmed educational programme ‘Learning in the North’ at JJHT Retirement Scheme, Radford House.  The short film is to be aired across Secondary Schools in the UK and is to discuss various themes such as Age, Race and Sexuality.  Age Concern Stockport entered their Nintendo Wii project to be used for the Age related section.  Eight pupils, all aged 14 from nearby Marple High School were selected to be filmed playing on the Wii against our very own Retirement tenants in the communal lounge in Radford House.

The Wii challenge was used to show integration between different generations and to close the stereotypical gap that often exists.  Everybody was interviewed on camera and asked what they thought about old and young people.

One of the chosen pupils Becky, aged 14 said ‘this retirement scheme is so much better than I thought it would be, it is so modern and homely! The people here all get on with each other so well and it is great.  I didn’t realise places like this were around!’
