Extra Care Housing supports you to live independently, giving you the security and privacy of your own home whilst offering varying levels of care, services and facilities. It is sometimes called 'very sheltered housing'.
In 2008, " Johnnie" Johnson Housing supported by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council launched its first Extra Care Scheme at Spey House in Reddish shortly followed by Portland House in Marple in May 2009 . The schemes consist of self-contained accommodation designed to suit the needs of older people.
