Climate Week 2011


The first Climate Change Week in 2011 saw half a million people attending 3000 events in Britians biggest  environmental occasion. "Johnnie" Johnson Housing Trust supported Climate Week by running a series of activities to promote the initiative including sharing hints and tips to help reduce carbon impact, advising how to calculate your carbon footprint and make a plan to reduce it; running competitions and holding events via our Facebook page .


Here are a few of the ways in which 'Johnnie' Johnson Housing Trust in trying to reduce the organisations carbon foot print

  • In 2010, JJHT recycled 3540 tonnes of paper from offices across the country - this was an increase of approximately 1000 from the previous year.
  • In 2010, JJHT recylced 161 tonnes of plastic and cans from its offices; an increase of 53 tonnes from the previous year.
  • In 2011, "Johnnie" Johnson Housing Trust will be funding the placement of 80 new water butts in it's retirement schemes. Water butts save rain water and mean you always have water available without having to use tap water.
