Helping our Heroes – All wrapped up and ready to go!
Over 140 boxes containing toiletries, confectionery, snacks and stationery were packed, wrapped and handed over to the Help our Heroes campaign by scheme managers and tenants of “Johnnie” Johnson Housing.
Tenants from “Johnnie” Johnson retirement schemes in Tameside – Park House, St Georges House, Stanmore House, Trenchard Court and Woodford Court gathered last week to fill and wrap Christmas shoe-box packages for the serving soldiers of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Vi Harris, scheme manager at Stanmore House commented:
“I became involved in the shoe-box campaign because my niece is currently serving in Iraq, she regularly tells us of the things she and fellow soldiers are missing; thing we take for granted. I contacted the other scheme managers in the surrounding area and they were more than happy to get involved in such a worthy cause”.
