Summer Fun in Adswood and Bridgehall
The 2006 Annual Summer Fun day in Adswood and Bridgehall was a blazing success as huge numbers took advantage of the summer sunshine to enjoy a host of activities.
Residents and visitors flocked to St Ambrose Primary School for the annual summer event, which was organised by the Adswood and Bridgehall Community Network Team.
“We’re always keen to be involved in local community events where our residents live,” said Tony Hennon, Housing Services Manager, “and it was great to see so many people turn out to support what was a fantastic community event”.
"Johnnie" Johnson Housing provided a face painter for the day who was kept busy painting little faces until 3pm. There were also visits from the local Police Force, the Fire Brigade, Stockport Safer Estates Team and many others. Entertainment came in the form of a live band, a theatre show, cheerleading and dance displays from local children – something for all ages.
A special mention goes to "Johnnie" Johnson residents Pat Lavin, Jean Benson and Marjory Howard, who worked tirelessly on their stall to raise funds for their resident group – the Tenants' Association for Pickmere and Stirling Close (TAPS). Pat said: “We love living here and we try to raise money to stage events for the residents”.
Overall, it was a great day for all concerned – roll on next year!
