Prime Minister Theresa May today addressed the National Housing Summit conference, and made a commitment to getting "the right homes built in the right places, so we can help more people onto the housing ladder – and ensure that those who cannot afford to own their own home also have a decent place to live".

She talked about "opening up new longer-term partnerships with the most ambitious housing associations through a ground-breaking £2 billion initiative."

Johnnie Johnson Housing welcomes this announcement. JJH is already embarking on an ambitious new development programme and has committed to building 800 new homes in the next five years.

JJH Chief Executive Yvonne Castle says, "I welcome that a Prime Minister has finally addressed a housing conference in person. The PM's commitment to, and respect for, the housing sector and all it does for its residents is encouraging.

There was a recognition that the services and support we provide for those in need is just as important as the homes we build. Positive words for working together – the sector AND Government."
