Your Rent is changing from April 2020 and you may need to make a change to your payment to us.
By now, you should have received your Statutory Notice and an accompanying letter through the post. It provides you with details of your new rent and charges where applicable, along with any changes in your payment to us. Please ensure you review the information and, if you have any queries, please contact the relevant team (see below).
Universal Credit/Housing Benefit claimants
If you have a Housing Benefit or Universal Credit Housing Costs claim, it is essential that you advise your local authority or Universal Credit of your new rent charge as it is your responsibility to manage your claim. Failure to do this may result in your housing costs not being updated to the new amount.
We recommend that you action this as soon as possible as you only have one calendar month to update your new rent amount in order for this to be backdated to the date of change. Failure to notify Housing Benefit or Universal Credit of your rent changes may result in penalties being applied to you.

If you pay a contribution towards your rent, for example, if you receive some but not all of your rent from Housing Benefit or Universal Credit housing costs, you need to ensure that you are paying the shortfall to us.
