Greater Manchester Housing Providers join forces to support the military community

Armed Forces Event Speakers Greater Manchester Housing Providers (GMHP) gathered today at the Imperial War Museum North to discuss how to support former armed services personnel and their families.

The inaugural GMHP Armed Forces Covenant event was hosted by Yvonne Castle, CEO of Johnnie Johnson Housing, and was attended by representatives from housing providers and local authorities from across Greater Manchester (GM).

The keynote speech was given by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Manchester, who spoke passionately about his personal mission to end rough sleeping in Greater Manchester. After speaking personally to people on the street, he says too many are veterans and as a society we are failing them which is shameful.

JJH takes the housing lead in helping make Manchester city carbon neutral by 2038

MCCB logo Work is being planned to improve the energy efficiency of JJH schemes, as part of our contribution to climate change initiatives.

JJH Executive Director, Homes and Services Ian Thomson is taking the lead on a cross-sector group on behalf of 14 other Manchester housing associations and recently presented proposals on how we can make a real difference to the climate change agenda.

Greater Manchester Housing Providers further their commitment to support Armed Forces veterans and their families

Armed Forces Covenant logo GM Housing Providers will bring together housing providers, suppliers, and support organisations on Thursday 25th October. During the day, attendees will hear keynote presentations from the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, and Warren Smith, Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, on how providers can support former armed forces personnel and their families at both a regional and local perspective. 

The event will also showcase a number of suppliers and support organisations, providing a chance for attendees to learn more about how signposting can add value to their services and delivery against the covenant.

JJH Developments is excited to launch a brand new development of nine bungalows at Layden Drive, Doncaster

Layden Drive Bungalow A launch event was held this week and was attended by JJH representatives and members of Doncaster Council where we showcased our building designs and plans for this exciting new development.

The properties will be available for over 55s and will provide new affordable homes for shared ownership.  There will also be a bespoke bungalow for rent which has been designed to meet the needs of a household with family members suffering from an acute disability.
