2023 Rent and Service Charges
Current Government Policy is to increase your rent by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) plus 1%. The CPI is a figure used to measure inflation. This would equate to 11.1%. However, the government has capped social housing rents at 7% and independent living at 9%. The amount of increase will depend on the type and size of home you live in, and is explained in the Changes to your Rent pack, which are landing from 1 March.
We are committed to keeping rent charges as affordable as possible. By increasing rents, it means we can invest more into our customers’ homes. With a plan to invest £1.8 million next year, this will cover repairs, planned maintenance and building safety works.
We’ve also worked hard to keep our service charges as low as possible. However, due to the increases in national energy and utilities bills, along with the rising costs we are experiencing from external suppliers, we have had no choice but to review and increase in some areas.
Rent and service charge increases will take effect in April 2023.
Direct Debit Payment
If you pay by Direct Debit we will amend your Direct Debit accordingly. We will also send you a further letter informing you what your new payment will be.
Housing Benefit
We have notified Housing Benefit, if you are in receipt of HB we advise that you also inform them of the changes that apply to you. If you receive Universal Credit you will need to complete a task on your journal after 3 April 2023 (not before) to update your rent and service charge figures.
