Beat The Winter Blues and Break The Ice week

Johnnie Johnson Housing is launching the Beat The Winter Blues campaign again this year, with the main purpose to support and offer advice, guidance and comforts and treats to all our residents. We know the Winter months can be difficult at times and this is why this is a great opportunity to help customers improve health and wellbeing through this initiative.

Why not Beat The Winter Blues and start a new conversation with your neighbour? That’s why alongside the Beat The Winter Blues campaign we are also inviting our customers to “Break The Ice” and encourage more neighbourly connections and conversation. Studies show that having good relationships with those who live closest to you promotes safer and happier neighbourhoods and also combats loneliness and isolation. As part of Break The Ice week we are encouraging residents to get together and find out more about one another with our conversation starters tips. Help each other to combat those feelings of loneliness and isolation during these Winter months and welcome new residents into your community.

Break The Ice week 15-21 January 2024

We are here to help you Beat The Winter Blues this Winter.

“We are delighted to promote resident wellbeing and reduce loneliness through relationship building where people live. Sometimes the smallest interactions can improve a persons mood and boost their confidence. We have seen many residents move into our properties with no connections, and in time have a full friendship group of like-minded individuals who come together and enjoy simple pleasures, like coffee and cake.

As part of Break The Ice Week we have some top tips on starting conversations, which can often be the most daunting part of all. Once you find your feet you will soon be sharing stories and lifting someone’s mood. Remember, the best gift you can give, is the gift of your time.”
