Energy Bill Relief Scheme for Housing Association Residents

The government has announced that households on heat networks will be included in the £400 energy bill relief scheme. As part of a cost of living support package, the energy bill support scheme announced in May 2022, was unclear for households without a domestic electricity meter and/or that have no direct relationship with an electricity supplier such as housing association residents.

December 2022 update

The energy bill relief scheme will be available for housing association residents, households without a domestic electricity meter and/or that have no direct relationship with an electricity supplier, by applying online or by telephone to receive their payment. More information on the ways to apply will be available in early 2023.

“The government has announced that support comparable to EBRS will be extended to non-domestic energy customers who receive gas or electricity via public networks from non-licensed providers: see the EBRS: non-standard supplies of energy section.”

January 2023 update

The intended timeframe for the scheme was from 1 October 2022 until 31 March 2023. Following from the latest update, the government announced a new Energy Bill Discount Scheme from April 2023 to April 2024.
