Managed Migration of legacy benefits to Universal Credit – Update

The DWP has confirmed plans for the roll out of universal credit managed migration in Greater Manchester, East Yorkshire, and Humber from June 2023.

In addition, DWP confirms that it plans to roll migration out in every region by September 2023 and in every jobcentre by March 2024

The ‘Move to Universal Credit’ programme

The next stage of the ‘Move to Universal Credit’ programme starting in Avon, Somerset and Gloucestershire from this month and due to expand to East London and Cheshire from next month.

The DWP said that it plans to extend migration for tax credit only claimants (in receipt of working tax credit and/or child tax credit, but not employment and support allowance, income support, jobseeker’s allowance, or housing benefit) into Greater Manchester, East Yorkshire, and the Humber from June 2023.

Anyone affected by these changes will receive a managed migration notice from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) called a notice of managed migration. Once you have this letter, you will have three months to act.
