Summer garden party at Park House

The August rain held off and the sun came out for a great social event. Over 70 residents from Park House and Woodford Court in Droylsden and Stanmore House in Audenshaw, enjoyed themselves at a summer garden party at Park House in the shared community garden – some brought their families and friends along too.

The event was organised and funded by the residents, with plenty of food and drinks provided – burgers, Sangria and Pina Coladas were all on the menu! Local retailers also supported the event

There was entertainment which included live music as well as a raffle. People were up and dancing and enjoyed the raffle prizes.

Community Housing Officer, Marcia and colleagues from the Johnnie Johnson Housing Communications team also attended the event enjoyed spending time with the residents.

“I have been a visitor at Park House for the last 30 years…I am now a volunteer there and I love to help out when I can. Park House residents have got a fantastic committee who organise lots of parties and events…when they put an event on they work so hard to make sure everything is just right to suit every age. I have met people who have moved into Park House and have said ‘I like to keep myself to myself’ I have yet to meet one who has stuck to that.
There is always something to look forward to, I think this is excellent as a lot of people who live there are on their own, they don’t need to be alone, there is always something for them to join in with if they choose to.”
