“What happened to Awaab must never happen again”
A statement from GMHP Chair, Charlie Norman, on the death of Awaab Ishak.
Everyone across the Greater Manchester Housing Providers partnership is deeply saddened by the tragic events in Rochdale, and our thoughts are with Awaab Ishak’s family.
Providing safe, decent homes, and ensuring the voice of all customers is listened to and acted upon, is fundamental to what we do as housing providers, and it is vital that the sector collectively takes action whenever we fall short of that.
What happened to Awaab must never happen again. A commitment to working collaboratively and learning from each other to continuously improve is at the heart of what GMHP is about. We will work closely together with our partners in Greater Manchester and the wider sector to help lead the change needed to ensure this tragedy isn’t repeated.
