Board Membership Update: John Sandford and Sue Lock

First Published: 28/09/2022

Our Executive Board is undergoing a change in leadership, as John Sandford, our outgoing Chair, has now stepped down from his post after two years in the role. Having been an incredibly valued member of the Johnnie Johnson Housing team for nine years, providing great expertise in a number of areas such as Finance, Treasury, Audit and Risk, John has played an essential role in the financial planning of the business for the future, particularly around our commitment to zero carbon.

If you would like to read more about the Manchester Zero Carbon Act, you can find it here. You can also read more about our ESG report here, which highlights our commitment to a financial and climate-safe future.

John Sandford has had an impressive and varied career in many different sectors, having worked for KPGM for a long time – becoming an audit director during his time there, and then progressing into many public sector and charity finance roles. In particular, he worked for the NHS trust and the Chorley Building Society, before taking up his post at Johnnie Johnson Housing. John will be very much missed and we wish him all the best going forward.

Sue Lock has now taken over from John as Chair of the Board. Sue has been a member of our board for five years, serving as Vice-Chair for the last year. In addition, she is a member of the Extra Care Charitable Trust which focuses on providing affordable housing to the over fifty-fives. Sitting on the Audit and Risk Committee, as well as being the Chair of the Operations Committee at Johnnie Johnson Housing, Sue has a vast amount of experience working with focus groups and charities who are helping to provide support and affordable housing to older people throughout the UK.

Sue’s extensive experience of housing associations, together with her knowledge of the care that will most benefit our elderly residents, remain invaluable to Johnnie Johnson Housing as she moves into her new role of Chair of the Board. We look forward to continuing working with her.
